Gabe Steel:
Hey, how's it going everyone? I'm Gabe Steele. I'm here doing an interview for Watch Fighters and this is my interview. Stay tuned. Exciting things coming up.
WatchFighters Media:
Who is Gabe outside of wrestling?
Gabe Steel:
Outside of wrestling, Gabe Steele is a friendly guy. Gabe Steele is a very energetic, I would say young man, but we're at 40 now, so that should have sailed. But I'm I'm, I'm just a person who enjoys helping other people, interacting with everybody and, and just loves wrestling.
WatchFighters Media:
What was your motivation to become the person you are today in the industry?
Gabe Steel:
Quite honestly, when I started in the industry, it was a little bit difficult to start. There was some check boxes that you had to hit. If I would say mildly, as far as like being an underground wrestler, you had the stereotype and the companies had a look they were looking for. If you didn't hit that, it was a little harder to get in.
And so I figured what can I do right now, which was learn to skill. I love wrestling, I love the moves, I love the holds, I love the whole homoerotic element to it. So I figured I could learn that part. And then from there, everything else just started evolving and it just motivated me to do better, get more in shape, go harder. And that made me the man I am today.
WatchFighters Media:
What advice do you have for newcomers trying to get into underground wrestling?
Gabe Steel:
Honestly, embrace what you like. Don't, don't be, don't be shy. Don't think I can't make it. Don't think I'll never be one of those guys. See guys, I'm at the same spot where you are right now. I used to be the guy that used to look at the underground wrestling matches such as you guys and just be like, man, I can never be one of those guys. That is so amazing. It would be so cool to be a part of that. And next thing you know, I'm just working these guys over in the ring and tossing them around and they're flying all over the place. And I was like, wow, you could do it too.
You just got to keep the mindset that it's, it's not. This is underground wrestling. If you love what you're doing and you have a passion for it, just go for it. Don't, don't overthink it twice. Just put yourself out there, man, and don't be shy. I did. And this is where I got to today. And if you're shy about it, reach out to me. I'll be more than happy to help you move things along and climb into the industry.
WatchFighters Media:
What would you change about the industry and what would those changes entail?
Gabe Steel:
Quite honestly, I think the industry lacks a lot of variety as far as guys goes. I think that there is a stereotype. I understand that you are running a business. When you run a business, you do what sells. However, I met over the course of my journey, I met thousands of guys that are amazing at what they do that that love the wrestling that that that know how to incorporate everything that like homoerotic wrestling is. The only difference is they don't think they look the part to be that wrestler in that video.
And to the truth is there's no body types in wrestling. It's variety. That's what I would bring to the industry. I would bring the old school pro wrestling, the wrestling we all fell in love with the wrestling we grew up with. I want to bring that back, but with the elements that we have in the underground. So you could get those matches that you fell in love with from the beginning. And to some of us that got lost over time. But I think, like, if we get back to that, we could better like, motivate, you know, it's a small community. We could grow it way bigger if we just get together and stop, like, body shaving each other. Stop. Like, hey, you need to be this party. No, no, no. We're all equal, man. Nobody's better than anybody. The way I would change it is, I throw a wider net. You want to try underground wrestling, let's do it. I make activities such as this and sponsor activities such as this so people could feel free to embrace their kank, embrace what they like and not to judge because a lot of people come to Wrestle Fest. They want to feel, hey, I don't feel safe doing this at home.
I'm shy, I have a family, I have to keep hidden. No, no, no, you shouldn't have to do that, man. You like what you like, Embrace it, be open about it, love it, live it, and that's what I would change about the industry.

25 days agoGreat interview ! I like what Gabe says. Letβs go back to some good old pro wrestling with diffferent kind of bodies. There is a lack of hairy wrestlers. I would like to see more Arn Anderson types . Perfect shaved bodies are boring

28 days agoWhat a great interview Gabe. You really inspired me to dive deeper into the scene. I have been very apprehensive to jump in because I donβt fit the conventional description of an underground wrestler. Youβve lit a fire under me to learn more and explore
